It's a boy!

I'm more than a little behind in posting this. Baby Walter Franklyn joined us early the morning of December 21st, almost four weeks before we expected him, and weighed 4 lbs 2 oz. He was early because I ended up with HELLP syndrome, which necessitated an emergency caesarean after the inducement wasn't working fast enough. Walter spent six days in NICU, primarily because he was considered to be quite small for his gestational age. Everyone's doing well now, and Walter has just (as of Tuesday the 16th) passed the five pound mark (weighing in at 5 lbs 2 oz). More photos available here: http://www.plainstext.com/walter

Congratulations on your little guy! He's adorable.

My youngest son, who by the way turned 26 yesterday, was born at 29 wks gestation weighing 2 lbs. 4 ozs. It was a scary time but he's just fine and a daddy himself :)

Enjoy every minute with the wee one...time will fly by and he'll be walking and talking before you know it!

Welcome to the world, baby Walter!!! And congratulations to your happy parents!!

I'm all too familiar with the NICU and with how scary all the technology is and how wretched it seems to see this wee baby hooked up to so many things, and how TINY they are!!! My granddaughter was born last May at 28 weeks, 2 lbs 10 oz, and spent almost two months in the NICU. In that time she's gone from this (with her big sister):

To this (with me, a couple of weeks after she was released, still under 5 lbs): http://farm1.static.flickr.com/70/185255010_51443509e8.jpg

To this -- our sweet little butterball turkey!! http://farm1.static.flickr.com/132/318225860_23facf27e0.jpg

I don't mean to clutter up your announcement post wtih links to my grandkids (so feel totally free to delete my post!) but I mainly wanted you to see that he may seem so very tiny and fragile now, but in no time at all he'll be big and growing up way too fast.
